The Lagos State Police Command has requested the court to hold Seun Kuti in custody for 21 days since the officer he slapped is purportedly in a coma at an unidentified hospital.  According to a source, Seun Kuti was secretly arraigned in the Yaba magistrate court without notifying his counsel. “The police have taken Seun Kuti to the Yaba Magistrate Court without informing his lawyers.” “The magistrate is scheduled to sit at 12 p.m., but Seun and his lawyers have already arrived,” the insider said. According to SaharaReporters, a court witness stated: “The Chief Magistrate Mrs. Adeola Olatunbosun Magistrate Court 1 Yaba took a statement from the Nigerian police requesting that Seun Kuti be detained for 21 days, claiming that the policeman he allegedly assaulted is in a coma at an undisclosed hospital.” Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, Kuti’s lawyer, replied that the police had already declared publicly that the officer had tracked Seun and taken N12,000 to fix his car.
